Senate Passes Bill to Protect Consumers from Cosmetic Contact Lens

Risks-

Because of recent eye health and safety concerns regarding the use of cosmetic contact lenses without the guidance of eye care professionals, the U.S. Senate has passed a bill declaring that all contact lenses should be classified as medical devices. If the companion bill in the House of Representatives passes (HR 371), consumers of cosmetic or " plano " lenses would require a prescription from a licensed professional to purchase the lenses. Prevent Blindness America thanks its many constituents for their support of this legislative initiative. Read More > http://pba.convio.net/site/R?i=qFd8rENkCYBxi2h09nazgA..

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, only a third of all children in the United States have had any form of eye care service before their sixth birthday. In light of this, Prevent Blindness America (Prevent Blindness America) has designated the month of August as Children's Eye Health and Safety Month to raise awareness of the importance of vision care for kids.
